    Shimano

With the seemingly endless number of aftermarket wheelsets, it's not surprising that some riders forget Shimano also offers wheel options for anyone wanting to upgrade their ride. While the XTR wheelset may get the attention of the price-is-no-object cross-country racer, most riders can get similar performance with significant price savings by considering the Deore XT offerings. Using a 24-spoke pattern with a straight and two-cross rear wheel lacing, the Deore XT wheels provide outstanding lateral and torsional rigidity. For exceptional rim strength without additional weight, Shimano uses a reinforced spoke-hole rim extrusion. Finally, Shimano offers the Deore XT wheelset with 15 or 20mm front wheel Thru-Axles and tubeless tire compatibility making them an ideal choice for XC or all-mountain riding.

    DT Swiss

This Swiss-made wheelset is perfect for serious XC racing. DT Swiss mates its high-end Tricon hubs with a pair of SBWT welded rims for exceptional strength and stiffness without unnecessary weight. Precision sealed cartridge bearings keep the hubs rolling smoothly while the star ratchet drive system assures almost instant engagement. A unique spoke lacing pattern consisting of both radial and crossed spokes provides an optimal level of rigidity and efficient power transfer.

  • LaserDisc Trail - $750

    LaserDisc Trail - $750

    WTB

This all-mountain wheelset performs beautifully in a variety of trail conditions thanks to its burly 27mm wide rim and 32 spoke lacing. WTB minimizes weight and retains strength by using double butted 14/15gauge spokes and alloy nipples while the smooth rolling LaserDisc Lite hubs ensure years of service. Available with traditional, QR 15 or a beefy 20mm x 110mm thru-axle front hub.
