TSN acquires rights to Tour de France

Network will air 2010 race in High Definition on TSN and TSN2

TSN announced Tuesday it had acquired exclusive, multi-year, English-language broadcast rights for the Tour de France. As the exclusive Canadian broadcasters, TSN and TSN2 will deliver coverage of the race in High Definition – marking the first time the race has been broadcast in HD on Canadian English television.

“TSN is home to the world’s biggest sporting events and there is nothing bigger in cycling than the Tour de France,” said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. “We are looking forward to putting the national spotlight on the race and capturing all of the excitement and drama as it unfolds this summer in HD.”

The 98th edition of the Tour de France runs from July 2 to 24, 2011. The race will be will be made up of 21 stages covering close to 3,500 kilometres.
