Talking with mountain biker Derek Zanstra about the importance of early-season success and his goals for 2011.
Derek Zandstra calls Ontario home, but the mountain biker for 3 Rox Racing will spend most of the next six months travelling – racing UCI World Cups, the Pan Am Championships, Canada Cups, the nationals and the UCI World Mountain Biking Championships. Zandstra finished third in the 2010 National MTB Championships and then followed that up by taking 37th in the World Championships held at Mont-Sainte-Anne. That was the second-highest finish by a Canadian in the elite men’s race behind Geoff Kabush in eighth.
Canadian Cycling Magazine caught up with Zandstra while training in South Carolina recently. He talked about the importance of seeing early-season success and his goals for 2011.
