Boo Bike

Looking for something a little more mainstream? A number of manufacturers are selling bamboo bikes and among those joining Menzies with sales in Canada is Boo Bikes, an exclusive brand started as a Princeton University student’s class project.

Launched in 2009, Boo Bicycles designer Nick Frey gets his bamboo from Vietnam and each tube is selected for a specific type of bike. Road bikes, for example, use thinner tubes for better ride quality and lighter weight while cyclocross frames use thicker tubes and a flatter top tube. Boo is now making both 29er mountain bikes and belt-drive bikes. Prices start at $2,695 for a custom road frameset that can be delivered in around 5-6 weeks through Stage Race Distribution in Canada. Stock sizes can be delivered in less than one week.
