American wins 20th Paris to Ancaster

Schooler and Garrigan stand on the podium

American Justin Lindine (Redline/NBX) won the 20th annual Paris to Ancaster bicycle race on Sunday, April 14 in Southern Ontario. Canada’s Aaron Schooler (Norco Bicycles-SRI) and Mike Garrigan (Blacksmith) rounded out the podium in second and third place.

Lindine gained a sizable lead of almost four minutes at the finish line after 57 km of racing. He won the race in 1 hour and 43 minutes. There was a group of approximately six riders in close proximity to one another that rode in for the remaining spots on the podium.

Nathan Chown ( CF Canada) placed fourth, Peter Sisera (CSAJCC-Norco) fifth and Nick Friesen (Independent) was sixth. U.S. cyclocross champion Jonathan Page (Planet Bike) attended the event for the first time. He placed seventh on the day.

In the women’s category, Mandy Dreyer (Unattached) raced to victory in a little more than two hours. She won the race ahead of track star Tara Whitten (Velocity Cycling Club) in second and former road talent Susan Palmer Komar (PK Express).

The original course began in Paris, travelled through sections of single track, old railway beds, fields and dirt roads before finishing 70 km later in Ancaster. Race organizers had to cut out some sections of the course on private land. In addition, freezing rain two days prior to the race knocked down several large tree branches onto the route.
