Top-notch field races through Quebec

Organizers of the 28th annual Tour de Beauce have assembled a top-notch peloton for the six-day stage race. The race will start on Tuesday in Lac-Etchemin and tour through the St-Georges de Beauce region of Quebec before concluding on Sunday.

The race will kick off on with a 165-km opener from Lac-Etchemin to Lac-Etchemin. Stage 2 will be a 152-km race from Thetford-Mines to Thetford-Mines. Stage 3 is the “queen stage” that includes 164-km of racing and a mountaintop finish on Mont-Megantic. Stage 4 is another decisive stage with a 20-km individual time trial from St. Benoit-Labre. The stage race will conclude with two circuit races beginning with the stage 5 126-km race in Quebec City and the stage 6 107-km race in Ville de St-Georges on Sunday.

The race will host a total of 19 teams including the Canadian national team, Garneau-Quebecor, Ekoi-Devinci, Champion System, Bontrager, Jamis-Hagens Berman, Jelly Belly, Team Raleigh, Optum Pro Cycling, 5-Hour Energy-Kenda, UnitedHealthcare, Amore&Vita, Bissell Pro Cycling, Inteja -Dominican Cycling, Medique p/b Silber Investments, Astellas Oncology Norco Bicycles-Premier Tech, Hincapie Sportswear Development, Novo Nordisk, Team H&R Block and Century Road Club Association.

The Canadian national team will include WorldTour riders Guillaume Boivin (Cannondale), Christian Meier (Orica-GreenEdge), Hugo Houle (Ag2R-La Mondiale), who placed second in last year’s edition, and Dominique Rollin (FDJ).

“Every year, the Tour de Beauce welcomes some of the best cyclists in the world for a sporting event of international flavors, in Beauce. The majestic roads of Beauce are now renowned by the cycling community, thanks to the Tour de Beauce,” said race director Francis Rancourt.

Rocky Mountain Stage – Wednesday June 12: Thetford-Mines /Thetford-Mines (152 km)
Le Georgesville Stage – Thursday June 13: St-Georges /Mont-Mégantic (164 km)
Desjardins Stage – Friday June 14: St-Benoît-Labre (20 km) [Individual Time Trial]
Ville de Québec Stage – Saturday June 15: Ville de Québec (126 km) [Urban circuit]
