BC Superweek: Giro di Burnaby

Ramsden and Knaver on the mark at the latest Superweek criterium

Yellowknife’s Olympian Denise Ramsden (Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies) took her first win of BC Superweek Thursday after finishing second in the Tour de Delta Omnium, while German Florenz Knaver (Team Baier Landshut) stepped on his third consecutive Superweek podium by winning the men’s event of the 7th annual Giro di Burnaby.

The legs might be beginning to lose their snap as the BC Superweek goes into its last event today at the three stage Tour de White Rock. But last night Ramsden continued to crank out the watts to finish ahead of St. Louis, Missouri’s Maura Kinsella of the large NOW and Novartis for MS squad and Port Moody’s Leah Guloein (Colavita Fine Cooking).

Knaver, runner-up in the UBC Grand Prix and third in the Gastown Grand Prix, outpaced two men from the Predator Carbon Repair squad: Santa Barbara, California’s Cody O’Reilly and New Zealand’s Dion Smith.

The Tour de White Rock begins with today’s Homelife Realty Hill Climb, continues with Saturday’s Choices Markets Criterium and concludes BC Superweek with Sunday’s Peach Arch News Road Race.
