Seattle’s Steve Fisher (Hagens Berman Cycling) repeated as champion of the White Spot Delta Road Race Sunday, wrapping up the weekend’s Tour de Delta. Fisher nudged ahead of German Yannick Meyer (Team Baiar Landshut) in a close sprint after a breakaway that had grown over the thirteen 11.63-km laps around Tsawwassen was brought to heel. The race marks the first time a UCI-sanctioned road race has taken place in B.C., making it the only race in Western Canada in the UCI’s America Tour.

Canadian Ryan Anderson (Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies) came third in the road race, putting him on the podium for all three stages of the Tour de Delta. Anderson had also come runner-up in the MK Delta Criterium and the Brenco Criterium.

In the women’s race, Canadian crit champion Leah Kirchman (Optum) took top honours, giving her third place all around in the omnium. Vanderkitten’s consistent American Elle Anderson’s runner-up spot ensured her the omnium title. Winner of the Saturday’s Brenco Crit, Robin Farina (USA/Team Now and Novartis for MS) rounded out the podium. Canadian Denise Ramsden’s finishing places throughout the Tour de Delta’s three races gave her second in the omnium.

BC Superweek continues mid-week in Vancouver with Tuesday’s UBC Grand Prix and Wednesday’s Gastown Grand Prix.
