Putting things into a clearer perspective with Ryders eyewear’s anti-fog lenses

Look at the autumn clouds gathering wherever you are in the country, take a deep breath, and remind yourself of something: for those of us on two wheels, the end of summer doesn’t mean the end of riding. It just means adapting.

Perhaps in no situation, though, is that more true than how you see.

In low light, when the weather is damp, the need to keep your field of vision clear and glare-free is paramount — and that’s where the anti-fog properties of Ryders’ line of eyewear comes in. Two products in particular, Carlita and Face, make use of cutting-edge design and construction to keep cyclists seeing clearly, even in low light conditions.

Take a look.

CARLITA

Carlita, one of those anti-fog products, is named after “the legend of the Mexican nomad who blinded herself to death after losing a staring contest with the sun,” the company’s website reads. In their description of the product, Ryders says that its Carlita frames, had they existed, might have saved the mythical girl’s life.

It’s a tall claim, to be sure, but the sophisticated tech behind their design makes it easy to see why it was made.

The clear lenses of these Carlita glasses — the “anti-fog” design — are signed for low light. With the back of the lens coated to resist fogging, a rider can wipe the lens without running the risk of removing that coating. UV protection, meanwhile, is fine-tuned to 100% thanks to Carlita’s construction, while their design keeps that construction robust and well-preserved. Shatterproof and scratch-resistant, the lenses are made of ultra-durable polycarbonate thermoplastic — the same material used in bulletproof glass.

Additionally, hydrophobic coating keeps water beading up and rolling off the lenses, making these glasses ideal in hard rain.

FACE

Ryder’s Face anti-fog glasses, meanwhile, have similar properties, designed to be the perfect eyewear in low-light, rainy conditions — in other words, exactly the kind of environment you’re likely to find yourself riding in this time of year. With similar properties to the Carlita anti-fog lenses that Ryders produces, specifications of the Face line include:

LIGHT CONDITIONS: designed for very low light

COLOUR EFFECT: no significant colour effect

VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMISSION: 93%, category 0

UV PROTECTION: 100% UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light to 400nm
