The new Rocky Mountain MSL
The new Rocky Mountain MSL

With shorter chainstays, a lower stand-over, additional adjustability and improved pivot technologies the new 2015 carbon Thunderbolt MSL is Rocky Mountain’s latest offering. With 27.5” wheels and the shorter chainstays – Rocky Mountain claims they have optimized the design. With a longer top tube and shorter stem, the handling is said to be more responsive. Furthermore with the shock placed under the top tube the standover height has been lowered.

The Thunderbolt MSL is designed to be an agile bike that is well suited for many scenarios. According to Rocky Mountain it’s solid on long technical climbs while also being well suited for single track descents.

Rocky Mountain’s proprietary carbon technology is designed to also make the frame ride smoother and feel more responsive. Additionally, Rocky Mountain has also redesigned their pivot system, claiming that they have removed all traditional bearings from the frame to decrease weight. The new Thunderbolt MSL will also have grease ports in key locations surrounding the pivots which is designed to help make the bicycle lower maintenance.

In addition to the Thunderbolt MSL, Rocky Mountain has released the Thunderbolt MSL BC edition which is effectively the same bike with a little more “brawn” according to Rocky Mountain.

With plenty of adjustment and new design elements, Rocky Mountain’s latest designs are  set to hit stores in 2015.
