Specialized releases S-works Demo 8 & Demo 8 Carbon

SPECSpecialized’s latest release is the Demo 8 Carbon – a downhill bike designed to have a lower centre of gravity and improved stiffness according to Specialized. Some of the key features include fully internal cable routing. This design feature is meant to limit the damage to the frame that cables cause while also increasing the longevity of cables. Another feature is the BB30 bottom bracket pivot which works in conjunction with the chain-stay – it effectively is a more direct and functional way to connect the front and rear triangles.

Sspecialized’s proprietary DH S3 geometry uses a 63.5 degree head tube angle and low 343mm BB height with a short, 430mm rear end. The S3 geometry is designed to be more specific to a rider’s style rather than how tall they are. All sizes are considered to have a low seat tube and standover height. Different frame sizes could be appropriate for two riders of the same height depending on handling preferences according to Specialized.

The design features also allow braking systems to remain independent of any suspension movement, while the pivot rotating around the bottom bracket is lower than before, which is said to enable better handling. Specialized has also pushed to have a lighter frame to ensure it’s responsiveness and maneuverability.

There’ll be two models available; the S-works Demo 8 Carbon and the Demo Carbon. The key differences pertain to the grade of carbon and built kits.
