Whether you’re looking for something for a roadie or commuter, each rider could use a little, or a lot, of high-viz.

You can start at the top with 1 Bollé’s The One ($180, $230 for helmet with aero vent covers, bolle.com). It’s designed for both skinny- and fat-tire riders. A liner will keep a rider warm in the colder seasons, while a built-in light can flash away at the back.

The 2 Giro Empire ACC Reflective shoes ($420, ogc.ca) throw back the beams of passing cars. The road shoes have a classic and very effective closure system: laces.

If you want to give eye-grabbing clothing, you can start with the 3 Pearl Izumi’s men’s PRO Aero WxB jacket ($235, shop.pearlizumi.com ) in screaming green. It’s a waterproof, breathable shell with reflective elements at the elbows and lower back.

For dryer conditions, the 4 Elite thermal arm warmers ($50, shop.pearlizumi.com ) in screaming yellow bring visibility and warmth to limbs.

5 Specialized’s Utility reversible vest ($155, specialized.com ) has an orange blaze that will keep a rider from getting caught in headlights. It’s Deflect and Polartec Alpha fabrics make a comfortable garment with a bit of loft from its insulation.

The waterproof, 600d polyester fabric on the 6 Axiom Aero DLX 35 panniers ($160 per pair, axiomgear.com ) has three reflective logos on each bag so that even cargo contributes to safety
