Belgian rider Antoine Demoitié dies after Gent-Wevelgem crash
Antoine Demoitié, a 25-year-old Belgian professional cyclist for Pro Continental team Wanty-Groupe Gobert, died in a Lille, France hospital after being hit by a race motorcycle during Gent-Wevelgem Sunday.
Demoitié apparently crashed and then was run over by the motorcycle in Sainte-Marie-Cappel in the French part of Flanders. He was taken to the hospital in Lille where he was listed in extremely serious condition.

The Belgian rider later died of his injuries. Frederic Evrard, a spokesman for the Nord-Pas-de-Calais regional police, said, “The rider died. An inquiry is under way to determine the circumstances.”
Demoitié was a neo-pro who signed for Wanty this season from the Wallonie-Bruxelles team.
