Paralympic cyclist Marie-Ève Croteau had two of her bikes stolen from her condo in the Charlesbourg area of Quebec City this week CBC News are reporting. A surveillance tape shows two men breaking into the garage of Croteau’s building on Monday night and fleeing by car driven by a third accomplice. The men cut the cable a lock that was on the bikes.

On September 5, the 37-year-old is scheduled to fly to Rio where she will participate in her first paralympic games. In 2012, Croteau missed the games after suffering a severe concussion in competition just weeks before the London Paralympics.

Croteau has older bikes at her disposal but for the past months she has been training on the ones that were stolen which would also have been used for competition. In response to the theft, Louis Garneau whose company supplies her bikes Tweeted, “Marie Ève Croteau I will find out another bike … You will not miss your games … because of thieves!”

Quebec City police believe they may have found one of the stolen bikes but they are still awaiting confirmation. Croteau has been a member of the national team for six years and was world champion in the road race and time trial in 2011. In 2010, she lost the use of both of her legs due to a virus
