After claiming fourth Tour de France, Froome helps fan with marriage proposal

Paris is the city of love and following his fourth Tour de France victory Chris Froome helped a fan make a romantic proposal to his girlfriend at the conclution of the three week French Grand Tour. Froome, wearing the yellow jersey and meeting fans after the finish in Paris is seen in a video exchanging words with a man before handing him a ring in a little felt box. The man then got down on one knee and proposed to his stunned girlfriend.

“I’ve been caring this around for three weeks,” Froome says as he takes out a little black box from his back pocket after the fan congratulates him on a great race. The women’s jaw can be seen dropping when she realizes what her boyfriend is being handed.

“That’s yours,” Froome says handing it to the man in a NY Giants sweater.

The fan asks with a big grin on his face, “Is that what almost made you loose it?” Referring to how close the 2017 Tour de France was with Froome winning by only a margin of 52-second over Colombian Rigoberto Uran.

Froome replies, “Almost, it’s pretty heavy,” as the man gets down on one knee in front of his girl friend.

The women can be heard saying, “Oh my God,” as she realizes what is happening. The women said yes and as Froome walks away the women admires the new ring on her finger and embraces her fiance as cameras linger around to capture the moment.

It was not the first proposal on the final day of the Tour de France. During the stage, Cyril Gauthier proposed to his girlfriend live TV on TV during the stage.
