Following news that Cycling Canada has joined forces with Lexus Canada, launching a multi-year partnership that will make Lexus the official presenting sponsor of all Canadian road and track cycling championship events, the national cycling body has announced the details for the 2017 Canadian championship series.

As ever, 2017 will see Canadian riders in all disciplines roll out at a range of locations, from Quebec to British Columbia.

Kicking off the 2017 series will be the Global Relay Canadian road championships in Ottawa and Gatineau, Que., drawing the country’s elite road titans to the National Capital Region as Canada celebrates its 150th birthday. Among the athletes competing in those events, happening from June 24-28, will be the nation’s top roadies in junior, elite and paracycling divisions, racing throughout five high-energy, high-tempo days.

The next installation in the 2017 Canadian championship series happens out west, as Panorama Resort in Panorama, B.C., hosts the Canadian downhill mountain bike championships on July 15 and 16. The site has recently become a mainstay of the Canadian gravity riding scene, with an array of fast, technical downhill tracks. Competing riders next year will get a taste of the terrain that has earned Panorama its reputation. Then, on July 22 and 23, XC mountain bikers will head to Canmore, Alta., for the 2017 Canadian mountain bike cross country championships. The event is one week before the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

For the country’s BMXers, meanwhile, Calgary will again host the discipline’s top national ranks at the 2017 Canadian BMX championships, happening from August 25-27. The Cowtown event—expected to be one of next year’s marquee BMX competitions—will also be the finale for the Canada Cup BMX series.

Other events whose fall dates have yet to be determined include the 2017 Canadian cyclocross championships, happening in Sherbrooke, Que., against the picturesque backdrop of Jacques-Cartier Park. The Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ont., the site of many prestigious track competitions since its unveiling, will also host the 2017 Canadian track cycling championships, when the world-class facility’s boards will rumble under the wheels of the country’s best elite, master and paracycling riders. As with 2016, elite, master and paracycling athletes will race in the fall, while junior and under-17 riders will have a spring championships.

Still to come are the details for the 2017 Canadian road masters and marathon mountain bike championships.
