1. Never stop in the middle of the trail. Choose a spot that allows you room to stay off trail and avoid collisions with others.

2. Do not hang around on top of  (or under) a jump or drop. Riders who know the trails will be coming in at high speeds. If you want to watch, stay well off the trail so you aren’t distracting.

3. Don’t start out on the expert trails. You increase your risk of crashing and really  plugging up the trails for fast and skilled riders.

4. Allow faster riders to pass. Find a safe spot to pull off to the side and be clear with your intentions.

5. Don’t ride any obstacle or stunt you  aren’t comfortable with.

Bonus tips

Throw a pair of baggies on top of the spandex. They improve the overall silhouette and actually help prevent abrasions in a crash. Bring plenty of water and snacks. DH riding is demanding physically, mentally and emotionally. (After a really good run, I always feel like I need a hug.) Finally, don’t blame me when you fall in love with DH and feel the need to add yet another bike to the stable.
