On a windy and hot day in Ottawa, Garneau-Quebecor veteran Bruno Langlois won the elite men’s national road race. The day before, Annie Foreman-Mackey won the elite women’s title from the day’s breakaway and once again aggressive racing paid off. Langlois bridged across to the early break and a group of 10 riders formed. Lack of organization in the peloton saw the whole peloton pulled with only 18 finishers in the 180-km race. In the final laps, a group of four formed containing Langlois, Matteo Dal-Cin, Ben Perry and Will Routley. Dal-Cin was the first to go down in a crash in last corner of the race. Routley and Perry followed leaving Langlois, who rode aggressively all day, to ride to the championship title.
