The Vancouver-based Glotman-Simpson Cycling Club, the city’s largest, has announced its 2015 roster.

“I couldn’t be happier to have a strong returning women’s roster, with a few solid additions on the men’s team as well,” said race director and racer David Gillam.

On the women’s side, Morgan Cabot, Claire Cameron, Justine Clift and Alysia Withers are returning after riding with the outfit in 2014. Meghan Grant has returned to GSC after a three year hiatus. She has been racing this winter at the Burnaby Velodrome and recently attended the L.A. Grand Prix in California, the Burnaby 4-Day, the Canadian track nationals and the Milton International Track Challenge.

“After watching Meghan graduate from our development racing program a few years back, we’re excited to see her return and share her skills as a GSC race ambassador,” says teammate Cabot. “She brings a lot of track and road-racing experience to the table, along with unparalleled motivation and dedication to her sport. Not to mention a taste for contagious impromptu dance parties.”

In 2014, Clift made her first foray into racing at UCI and NRC levels. She made herself known when she bridged to the winning break at the Gatineau Grand Prix. Clift is a time trialling specialist and a GC contender who will get her teammates’ support.

The men’s squad has Gillam, Travis Streb and Mark Rainer. James Anderson is new to the Cat. 1/2 group, having come up through the team’s development program. The second new member is Devon Moonie. He’s a recent upgrade to Cat. 2 and has his sights set on the under-23 Canadian road championships. Both Anderson and Moonie are currently training full-time in Arizona.

Gillam reflected on Glotman-Simpson Cycling successful 2014 season. “To say the least, last year garnered some impressive results, not only in the racing realm, but within the club’s cycling members and local community involvement. Our women’s racing team saw 47 podium spots, and the men reached 31 podium results. Our very own Bob Welbourn became the Canadian cyclocross masters (40-49) champion and was recognized as the masters cyclist of the year by Cycling BC. I have no doubt that our success will continue in 2015,” said Gillam.

The teams will focus on the Cycling BC Racing Calendar, Canadian road nationals, the White Spot Delta Road Race and the 2015 RBC GranFondo Whistler.

The club, which is entering its eighth season, not only supports top riders, but also develops those in the Cat. 3/4 ranks. It has a charitable component, too. Throughout the past seven years, it has raised more than $1.1 million through its the Cypress Challenge event. The funds have gone to the BC Cancer Foundation and supported the search to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
