Hot Sauce Cycling partners with 4iiii power meters

4iiii Innovations Inc. will be supplying Canadian Cyclocross racer Mark McConnell, known on social media as Hot Sauce Cycling for the 2016 and 2017 season. McConnell has created a strong social media presence with a fun persona as he races around North American and on the professional European cyclocross circuit in past years. A thoughtful DIY racer who has made his bearded presence a staple at many high profile cyclocross races, McConnell will use 4iiii power meters on all his bikes in 2016 and 2017. The left side crank based power meter will help McConnell train and perform at his season targets using their non-drive side Precision power meter.

The Precision is touted as the lightest and most accurate power meter and uses a wireless pod to measure wattage output and other performance metrics. The power meter is installed on the inside surface of the left bike crank, it adds nine grams of weight and uses a replaceable 2032 battery, is complimented by the iOS and Android app allowing for easy pairing with ANT+ and Bluetooth devices.

Over on the road in Europe, UCI WorldTour team Etixx-Quickstep used the power meter to their numerous successes in 2016 which included victory in the team time trial at the world championships in Qatar.

“Power is the most accurate way to track and measure my performance week in and week out,” said McConnell. “From training stress loads to planning my next peak performance. Utilizing power data is the gold standard of modern sport analysis.”

McConnell was a former runner and bike courier who grew his brand in 2015 with his European campaign where he became a recognizable figure in the mud of Belgium. In 2016, he vies for success at the Canadian national cyclocross championships that take place Nov. 5 in Sherbrooke, Que.
