Landyachtz launches Canadian bike brand based out of Vancouver

Company that is known for its skateboards debuts steel frame road and urban bikes

Landyachtz are debuting a commuter bike and a customizable road bike. The Canadian company that builds longboards, skateboards and skateboard accessories have decided to enter the cycling industry thanks to the founders Mike Perreten and Tom Edstrand, who are not only skateboarders but avid cyclists, too. Landyachtz Bikes will release a modern road bike and an urban commuter.

“Creating a bike company was a natural evolution for us that emphasizes Landyachtz’ core values; quality craftsmanship, innovation in design, and community cultivation. Our goal is to design and manufacture a product that helps make a positive connection between the rider and bicycle,” says Perreten. “Whether it’s a quick rip to run an errand, a twenty-minute commute to work or a road ride adventure with some friends to a new spot, Landyachtz bikes are designed to make the trip as enjoyable as possible.”

The 1146 bike is named after the Vancouver Union Street address where the bike is hand built. Using a modern road bike geometry, the bike is designed to be fast and nimble made from high-end Columbus steel tubing for a supple and smooth ride. The frame is backed with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

The Landyachtz City Bike is also built with Columbus tubing using a road bike geometry designed to help the rider pedal efficiently and maneuver confidently. The bike is built with flat bars to navigate the urban jungle and features hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power and an Alfine internal hub to minimize maintenance and increase durability.

Landyachtz flagship location is found at 1146 Union street in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. The companies bike shop building opens up on a busy bike route and features a dedicated space and community hub for cyclists. The Landyachtz City Bike will retail for $1700 and can be purchased online at LY-bikes.com. The road bike will start at $5500 with different equipment specs available through the Landyachtz Bike Shop.
