With the end of daylight savings time you’ll probably be spending more time riding in the dark. For the next few months the sun will go down alarmingly fast meaning that if you plan on riding during the afternoon or just simply plan on commuting to and from work it’s a good idea to always have your bike lights close at hand. Lezyme’s Micro Drive 450XL and rear KTV lights will keep you visible out on the road both feature good battery life and excellent brightness. Silicon straps make them easy to remove and a built-in USB recharging stick means you don’t have to worry about cables for charging.

The powerful Micro Drive 450XL is a multi-use light that can emit a blinding 450 lumens. The high-quality aluminum construction is water-resistant, durable and encloses the powerful light that has been designed to also be visible from the side. The light isn’t compact but for a light this bright it mounts nicely on a wide variety of handlebars. The silicon strap makes it easy to mount and dismount if you are using it on your commuter.

The 450 lumens the light emits is enough to provide great visibility in dark areas and keep you highly visible to drivers on dark roads. It’s versatile enough to go from pitch black trail to well-lit urban area. The light has eight modes ranging from flashing to a solid blast. If you are using the light for commuting purposes you can notch it down in order to get up to 25 hours of battery life. On blast, what you’d use to navigate a dark path in the forest safely, it lasts closer to one and a half hours.

To recharge the light, a cap slides off to reveal the USB charging port meaning you won’t have to rely on cables. Just make sure to keep track of the cap while it’s plugged in. The lights multiple functions and power really make it a versatile option and the quality construction gives us confidence in its long-term durability.

The KTV tail light emits a more modest seven lumens but certainly remains sufficiently bright and powerful to keep you visible out on the road. The light features a flash, a pulse and a solid setting with battery life ranging from over three hours for the solid setting to over eight for the flash. The silicon strap makes it easy to attach and detach the light. Like the front light, it also uses a cap to cover the USB stick for charging.

The solid construction of Lezyme’s lights means that where ever you venture you can feel confident you will be visible. The front light provides the welcome versatility to explore dark trails and the rear light ensures that on your commutes in the dark or inclement whether you will be seen. The Micro Micro Drive retails for $55 while the KTV is available for $33. The pair also come in a set for $87 making them a very budget friendly option.
