Live coverage replay: 2012 Tour de Beauce Stage 6

Follow our daily coverage as the best cyclists in the world race through Quebec from June 12-17.

The Tour de Beauce will host some of the strongest road cyclists in world for a six-day stage race held in Saint-Georges, Quebec. Follow our live coverage of the race that begins on Tuesday, June 12 and concludes on Sunday, June 17.

Defending champion Francisco Mancebo (Competitive Cyclist) will take the starting line alongside other past winners Svein Tuft (Team Canada) and Ben Day (UnitedHealthcare).

There are a handful of other riders capable of winning the overall title that include Sebastian Salas (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies), who won the climber’s jersey at the Tour of California, Ryan Roth (SpiderTech p/b C10), Craig Lewis (Champion System) and Rob Britton (H&R Block)

The Canadian national team, led by Tuft, will start a series of notable riders including Christian Meier and David Veilleux. Francois Parisien (SpiderTech p/b C10) will look for improve on his strong performance from last year.

The international stage race is one of the longest-standing events in Canadian history. Previous winners include Jonathan Vaughters, Levi Leipheimer and Michael Rogers.

Stage 1, June 12 (starts at 9:30 a.m. EST): Lac-Etchemin to Lac-Etchemin, 162 km

Stage 2, June 13 (starts at 10:00 a.m. EST): Thetford-Mines to Thetford-Mines, 160 km

Stage 3, June 14 (starts at 9:30 a.m. EST): St-Georges to Mont-Megantic, 164 km

Stage 4, June 15 (starts at 9:00 a.m. EST): St-Benoit-Labre Time Trial, 20 km

Stage 5, June 16, (starts at 12:15 p.m. EST): Circuit Urbain / Ville de Quebec, 125 km

Stage 6, June 17 (starts at 11:00 a.m. EST): Circuit Urbain / Ville de Saint-Georges, 125 km

Good morning and welcome to the final stage of the Tour de Beauce. Today’s stage six finale is a circuit race in Saint-Georges. The peloton will complete 10 laps of a 12.5 km course for a total of 125 km.There are three sprints and three King of the Mountain climbs on the course today.

To recap yesterday’s stage 5 circuit race in Quebec City, Vegard Stake Laengen (Team Type 1-Sanofi) clawed his way to victory. He outpaced two of his eight breakaway companion, Russell Hampton in second and Liam Holohan in third, both from team Raleigh.

HIs UnitedHealthcare team DS, Henrik Redant said today’s circuit race is much harder than yesterday’s because there are more climbs. It will be tougher to control the race today. But he is confident that his riders are strong and they will be able to win the overall GC.
