Tune in, right here, on July 12 at 10 a.m. EDT to follow our live coverage of the women’s and men’s cross country mountain bike events of the 2015 Pan Am Games. World champion Catharine Pendrel and Emily Batty will represent Canada in the women’s race. On the men’s side, Raphaël Gagné and Derek Zandstra will wear the maple leaf. All are familiar with the course at Hardwood Ski and Bike near Barrie, Ont. It featured in the 2015 national championships. The venue has also been a staple for Canada and Ontario Cup events. All riders will face features such as Boneshaker, Sidewinder, Sydor Slider, JP’s Nemesis, Big Z and Doug’s Hill on the 6-km course.

In 2011, Canada started its medal tally with XC. Amanda Sin got bronze in Guadalajara in the women’s race. She shared the podium with American Heather Irmiger (U.S.A.), who won gold, and Lorenza Morfin (Mexico), who won silver. Canada’s Max Plaxton took silver in the men’s race. Colombian Hector Paez had the win, while Jeremiah Bishop of the U.S. took the bronze.
