Over the course of 21 stages, the professional peloton travels across 3,529 km in the 2016 Tour de France (minus the top 7-km of Mont Ventoux). Each stage takes an army of personnel to set up and take down the start/finish areas, mark the course, handle security along the route and broadcast the race live. Over 4,500 people from 190 countries are working behind the scenes to bring the Tour to the eyes of millions of people around the world and make the race run like clockwork. Starting and working long days, it takes planning and careful logistics to make everything run smoothly stage after stage.
