Meredith Miller and Sven Nys win 2014 CrossVegas

CrossVegas women finish

Wednesday’s CrossVegas featured Canadians in both the women’s and men’s fields. Catharine Pendrel, who recently won the cross country world championships, lined up with fellow Canadian Luna Pro teammate Maghalie Rochette. Mical Dyck was also in the mix.

Geoff Kabush wore his national champion’s jersey and rode with Scott-3Rox Racing teammate Derek Zandstra. Another pair of Canadian teammates in the elite men’s race were Craig Richey and Michael van den Ham of Trek Red Truck presented by Mosaic Homes. Mark McConnell (Synergy Racing) and Mike Garrigan (Van Dessel) rounded out the Canadian contingent.

While Pendrel and Kabush were both third in their respective CrossVegas races in 2013, the 2014 podiums did not feature any Canucks.  Meredith Miller (U.S.A./Pepper Palace Pro Cycling) won the women’s race with Katerina Nash (Czech Republic/Luna) and Katherine Compton (U.S.A./Trek Factory Racing) just behind. Sven Nys (Belgium/Crelan-Aa Drinks) won the men’s race for the second year in a row. He was followed by Lars van der Haar (Netherlands/Development Team Giant-Shimano) and Jeremy Powers (U.S.A./Rapha Focus).
