Naked bike rider shows too much, gets ejected from ride in cringeworthy U.K. incident

On one hand, you hear a story about a participant at a naked bike ride getting a bit too, uh, excited and think, sure, it had to happen eventually. On the other, you can’t help but wonder who found it more awkward: the man himself, or the other riders.

Last weekend, the city of Kent, U.K. hosted a World Naked Bike Ride, and that was the scene when a participant experienced a rather poorly timed public erection. “Everyone was taking their clothes off to get ready for the ride,” reported The Cambridge News, citing an evidently shocked witness. “I heard gasps and I turned around—it was a horrible sight. It’s fair to say he was overexcited and got aroused. It looked like he was enjoying the event a bit too much.”

The sight grabbed the attention of organizers and police, because obviously it did. “One of the organizers went over to him,” the witness continued, “and told him to put his trousers on while speaking on a walkie-talkie to police.” When police eventually arrived, the day, already bizarre, must have seemed to take a Vaudevillian turn for all involved.

“The man looked sheepish,” the witness said.

All of that, too, before the ride ever left. “We do not accept this behaviour and he was dealt with and removed before the ride started,” Barry Freeman, the ride’s organizer, wrote via social media. As with other World Naked Bike Rides, the rules were posted in advance, and organizers warned participants before the ride about how the authorities would respond to any shenanigans — intended or not.

“The police have confirmed they will act on any inappropriate behaviour and we, the organisers, will support that,” pre-ride notices read.

“If you are coming just to be a pain in the neck and to be the one to end this [World Naked Bike Ride] we’d rather you stayed at home.”
