The second day of the Panamerican Championships wrapped up on Sunday with the road race. On the women’s side, Joelle Numainville raced a strong race winning the silver medal. The race was controlled by the strong American contingent with the Mexicans making several attacks. Team Canada athlete Stephanie Roorda was in a break with Laura Brown controlling the front of the peloton, but the pack reeled them in after 10 kilometers. Heading in to the finish Denise Ramsden was Numainville’s compass and lead her out to a second place finish behind American Shelley Evans. Ramsden finished in 8th, with Roorda in 17th and Brown in 26th.
The men’s side had a small Canadian Team with Charles Dionne and Jean-Michel Lachance who were outnumbered by the other teams. Dionne finished in 15th place.
The Canadian track team is now in Aguascalientes and prepping for upcoming competition. The racing began today with the following events:
* Men’s Team Sprint – Joseph Veloce, Travis Smith, Stephane Cossette
