Orica-GreenEdge wins Tour de France Stage 4 team time trial

Orica-GreenEdge took the top spot on the podium during the Tour de France Stage 4 team time trial held in Nice. Simon Gerrans, the team's sprinter and Stage 3 winner, moved into the overall race lead tied in time with his teammates Daryl Impey in second and Michael Albasini in third.

Orica-GreenEdge took the top spot on the podium during the Tour de France Stage 4 team time trial held in Nice. Simon Gerrans, the team’s sprinter and Stage 3 winner, moved into the overall race lead tied in time with his teammates Daryl Impey in second and Michael Albasini in third.

The Stage 4 team time trial was held on a 25-km course around Nice. Orica-GreenEdge won the race with a time of 25:56 minutes, one second faster then Omega Pharma-QuickStep and three seconds faster than Sky Pro Cycling.

Canada’s Svein Tuft played a crucial role in the team’s success during the race. The team selected Tuft, who is a multiple-time national time trial champion, to compete in his first-ever Tour de France.

Gerrans will wear the yellow jersey as the race heads into Stage 5’s 228.5-km road race from Cagnes-sur-Mer to Marseille. Peter Sagan (Cannondale) is leading the green jersey sprint classification, Pierre Rolland (Europcar) is leading the red polka dot climber’s competition and Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) is leading the white jersey young rider competition.
