Registration for 2017’s BC Superweek, one of Canada’s premier road events, is officially open—with all six competitions in this year’s Superweek ready to receive qualified riders.

Notably, 2017 will see the first edition of the New West Grand Prix, as well as other high-profile, events, such as the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix and the Giro di Burnaby, each celebrating their 44th and 10th anniversaries, respectively. Other events include the White Rock | Delta Road Race, Tour de Delta, the Tour de White Rock and the PoCo Grand Prix.

Running from July 7 to 16, seven criteriums and two road races make up the events, with a purse of more than $135,000 up for grabs for competitors. Men and women receive equal prize money in all events.

Direct Energie Pro Cycling’s Ryan Anderson, who boasted three top-10 finishes in 2016, is looking forward to a tempo of competition that draws the best, most powerful riders from across Canada and North America. “BC Superweek has always been a great way to test yourself as a cyclist, no matter what your goals are,” Anderson said. “It always attracts a very high level of riders.”

Rally Cycling Team’s Sara Bergen, hailing from Coquitlam, B.C. — and last year’s second-place finisher at the White Rock | Delta Road Race — shares the sentiment. Superweek, she said, “brings together the highest calibre of racers in North America. It’s fast, aggressive and massively entertaining for both athletes and spectators.”

“An absolute must on any racer’s calendar,” Bergen added.

Registration is available online at the BC Superweek website, with early-registration discounts offered until June 5.
