Highlighting the region’s mountain biking prestige, the community of Revelstoke, B.C., will be the host of September’s Mountain Bike Tourism Symposium. The symposium happens Sept. 13–15.

Attracting both mountain bike athletes and industry professionals from across British Columbia and elsewhere, the event speaks to Revelstoke’s own progress in embracing mountain biking–both in tourism circles and as a discipline. Opportunities to experience trails like Frisby Ridge and The Rooster will put the region’s offerings as a playground for riders on dazzling display.

Beyond that, though, the peripherals of mountain bike tourism will also be matters of discussion, the Revelstoke Mountaineer reports. One of those—the primary theme of this year’s event—is stewardship and the care of trails, something of growing importance as tourism swells the trails of British Columbia.

“Revelstoke is a great central location in B.C.,” said Meghan Tabor, representing Tourism Revelstoke, “less than six hours away from just about anywhere in the province. We are seeing huge growth in our mountain biking sector, and we are beyond thrilled to host the symposium here this year.”

Participating organizations include Tourism Revelstoke, the Revelstoke Cycling Association and Wandering Wheels.

According to Western Canada Mountain Bike Tourism Association executive director Martin Littlejohn, “We are incredibly fortunate to live in a province that is so well-suited for mountain biking. We are truly the envy of the mountain biking world. Revelstoke is a great destination with so much to offer.”

“We are very excited to have it be the location for the symposium in 2017,” Littlejohn added.
