Sean Fincham will be joining a team with two experienced riders for the 2017 season. The first-year under-23 rider will be part of a new mountain bike outfit developed by Evan McNeely and Andrew L’Esperance, set to launch Friday.

“I am very excited to race my bike this year because of all the new opportunities,” Fincham said. “I will be taking a big step into a new category with some of the fastest bike racers in the world. I’m on a new team that I’m very excited to have support from and ride with this season. I look forward to proving myself as a first year u23.”

Fincham had a strong 2016 season, winning the national junior cross country title, and finishing eighth at junior worlds. From Squamish, B.C., Fincham had applied to Norco, and was referred to L’Esperance and McNeely as the two developed their team for the 2017 season.

“Norco put us in touch and Andrew and I thought it would be great to help a young and developing rider,” said McNeely. “In some ways he reminds me of myself as a younger rider.”

Inviting Fincham to join the team was one way of being able to give back to a sport that has given so much to McNeely and L’Esperance. They are impressed by Fincham and are excited to offer support and guidance.

“Sean has a lot of talent, without a doubt,” said L’Esperance. “We wanted to share our experience and support with someone coming up through the sport and help him  develop into a stronger rider. We both had some really important help early in our development and it’s helped us get to the World Cup level.”

Fincham is expected to race a slightly different calendar from McNeely and L’Esperance, but together the team aims to build on the talents and knowledge of each rider to continue to improve.
