Shimano tight-lipped on Ultegra Di2 rumours

Industry websites buzzing about next generation of electronic drivetrain

We’re big fans of Shimano’s Di2 drivetrain, but not so big on the price. Unfortunately, the best drivetrain on the market doesn’t come cheap. But we were excited recently to hear rumours that the trickle-down effect common in cycling could result in an Ultegra-level electronic shifting system. Not suprisingly, though, Shimano is reminding everyone that the rumours are just that – rumours. “On the Internet some information was published about Shimano Ultegra Di2. Please note that this is not official Shimano information.”

BikeRumour is also reporting HERE that an “anonymous industry source” has said the current generation of Dura Ace Di2 would become the Ultegra Di2 while a new-and-improved version of the drivetrain would become the new top-level Di2. Whatever happens, we hope the prices come down a bit on the electronic shifting system.
