Team SmartStop partners with Canadian company Velofix

Team SmartStop

American UCI Continental squad Team SmartStop has announced a partnership with the Vancouver-founded mobile bicycle repair service Velofix. Velofix will provide a mobile bike shop for SmartStop’s races in Canada and North America this year. The team is currently racing the Vuelta Independencia Nacional Republica Dominicana in the Dominican Republic and will assail the Redlands Bicycle Classic in California in early April.

Both operations are pleased with the partnership. In a press release, Velofix CEO and co-founder Chris Guillemet said, “We are very proud to partner with the SmartStop Pro Cycling Team. In a short period of time SmartStop has established a world class team and we look forward to being part of a successful 2015 season.”

Velofix, with a motto of “Save Time, Ride More”, has 12 mobile shops in Canada and looks to expand operations in Canada and into the USA.

Even with the American road champion Eric Marcotte in its ranks, SmartStop has a decidedly Canadian flavour, with team director Jamie Bennett hailing from London, Ontario and the squad featuring three Canadian athletes: Zach Bell, Rob Britton and Kristofer Dahl.

Omer Kem, the general manager of SmartStop’s ownership group, said, “Premier Sports Group is incredibly excited to announce a new partnership with Velofix. Velofix’s innovative mobile repair vans will allow Team SmartStop’s mechanics to be better prepared for the challenges of over 100 racing days in North America.”
