On Monday, Team SmartStop announced their roster for 2015. The 2013 Canadian men’s national road champion Zach Bell will continue with the team in 2015. Bell will be joined by two other Canadians on the U.S. based squad; current under-23 time trial champion Kristopher Dahl and one of Canada’s top GC contenders, Rob Britton.

Other key signings include 2014 NRC winner, Travis McCabe and the current U.S. national road champion, Eric Marcotte. Team SmartStop had a remarkable year after beginning the season as underdogs. They forged a reputation as a major force in the domestic professional scene by winning many of the top North American races. Some highlights include wearing the yellow jersey at the Tour of Utah, a stage win at the Redlands Bicycle Classic and winning inaugural Winston-Salem Classic.

SmartStop also had a strong presence North of the border in Canada. The team was prominent at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Saguenay, winning the King of the Mountains Classification and the overall, while Britton finished second overall at the Tour de Beauce.

Team director Mike Creed has cited that because Team SmartStop had such a successful season in 2014, that 2015 may mean that the team is more marked. Nevertheless he said that the team’s aggressive racing style will not change next year. There are several major objectives for the team in 2015, among them are a few high level Canadian races, such as the Tour of Alberta.
