Tro-Bro Leon: Roth first, Boivin third

SpiderTech's first European win; Boivin's 8th top-10 of the year

Canadian Pro Continental team SpiderTech powered by C10 got its first European win when Ryan Roth rode away from his two companions at the head of the UCI 1.1-rated Tro-Bro Leon on Sunday. The chase group surpassed one man from the leading trio, giving Guillaime Boivin opportunity to take the sprint for third. It’s Boivin’s eighth top ten finish of 2012.

The 206-kilometre race in the Brittany region of France is known as the ‘Hell of the West’ because of its tricky dirt road sections. Roth, Junior Canadian cyclocross champion in 2000, is the first foreign winner of Tro-Bro Leon since Australian Mark Renshaw in 2006.

Last year in the ‘Hell of the West’, SpiderTech’s Will Routley came runner-up to Europcar’s Vincent Jerome. Routley came 30th today.

SpiderTech’s next race is the four stage Giro del Trentino which begins with a 14.3 kilometre team time trial Tuesday in Riva Del Garda, Italy. Though Routley will be participating, Roth and Boivin will be held back for the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey April 22 to 29.
