Vancouver’s Red Truck Racing finalizes 2014 roster

Vancouver’s high-performance development squad Red Truck Racing, which turns 20 years old in 2014, has set its lineup for the start of its third decade.

New additions to the men’s squad include Michael van den Ham, Geordie Morrison, Joel Taylor and Trevor Stotthard. At this year’s world cyclocross championships, van den Ham was Canada’s top finisher in the men’s under-23 category. More recently, he finished seventh on the second day of racing at the Cycle-Smart International. The four new riders join the returning Bailey McKnight, Craig Richey, Dustin Andrews, Brad Clifford and Henri de Boever.

On the women’s side, Kinley Gibson and Tessa Pinckston join the team’s ranks. While Gibson has had success on the track—including a silver in the women’s scratch race at the junior track world championships in August, and gold in the omnium at junior Pan-American track championships in July—the road is an important part of her cycling repertoire. Both Gibson and Pinskston rode in the junior women’s road championship race in Italy in September. Leah Guloein, who has raced with Red Truck previously, returns to her cycling alma mater as team captain. Returning women riders include Shoshauna Laxson, Allison Beveridge, Sarah Coney and Jenny Lehman.

Red Truck’s mountain bike team has doubled. The squad, which was composed of only Brandi Heisterman, now has Austin Reith. Reith won this year’s junior XC Canada Cup race.
