Cycling.tv, a live and on-demand streaming service, is carrying the Spanish Grand Tour in 2017

How to watch the Vuelta a España in Canada

Canadians Svein Tuft (Orica-Scott), Michael Woods (Cannondale-Drapac) and Hugo Houle (Ag2R-La Mondial) are riding the 72nd edition of the Vuelta a España. The race runs until Sept. 10 when the Vuelta concludes in Madrid. With brutal climbs across the three week Spanish Grand Tour it would be shame not to catch some of the action during the Vuelta. In order to watch the Vuelta a España in Canada legally you can’t just switch on your television and expect to find it live.

While illegal streams may not cost anything they come with unwanted features like sketchy feeds, pop-ups (some NSFW), the threat of viruses to your device and the near guarantee that the feed will freeze up as the nail biting uphill sprint winds up with 800 m to go. So, if you want better viewing quality for enjoying the Vuelta in Canada, you’ll have to spend some money eventually. If you don’t want to turn to one of many dodgy sites, then Cycling.tv will provide coverage of the race.

UPDATE: As of Sept. 1, Cycling.tv is offering a US$12 pay-per-view service to access the streaming services Vuelta content. So whether you are already a subscriber or a new member, you will have to subscribe to catch the action on a reliable and legal feed.

The good news is for now you can stream the Vuelta for free on Cycling.tv as it is experiencing technical difficulties with its pay-per-view service. Until the streaming issues are resolved, Cycling.tv is offering the Vuelta stream free. Expected pricing is US$12.

Cycling.tv is an online service that provides live, on-demand and occasionally pay-per-view coverage of bike races throughout the season. The service costs US$80 for a calendar year from the date your subscribe or US$30 quarterly. Both subscriptions are auto-renewed if you don’t unsubscribe.

The list of events covered includes cyclocross races throughout the 2017-2018 season, smaller road events on the European Tour and a selection of UCI WorldTour races such as the Tour Down Under, Paris-Roubaix and for Canadians the Vuelta a España. Additionally, subscribers get access to replays and highlights from races. Live race broadcasts are only available to viewers in the U.S. and Canada.
