The Knobby Tire Trek for Kids event, running Sept. 23–24, will let you ride trails with Emily Batty and help support the KidFit Program. The program is an initiative led by Dr. Don Mabbott out of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. It puts an emphasis on exercise to help children who have acquired brain injuries because of cancer. These injuries can lead to learning disabilities.

The second annual Knobby Tire Trek for Kids will be held at Tecasy Ranch, about 40 km north of Peterborough, Ont. It’s a family-friendly event for 100 participants. Not only is there a lot of riding scheduled, but there are activities for off-bike, and time to chat and enjoy the rustic location. Participants will stay in cabins or camp. Either way, you’ll need your sleeping bag. Food is covered. There’s mechanical support for your bike, too.

Registration is $250. You’re also encouraged to raise $750 to help the KidFit Program.
