21-km test in Gatineau Park won by American Lauren Stephens

The eighth edition of the Chrono Gatineau, the women’s UCI 1.1 event, went off on Friday evening in Gatineau Park. The 49 women racing had an out-and-back course in the national park. The temperature was perfect for a time-trial with the sun out and a light cool breeze.

When world champion Amber Neben crossed the line, the last rider out on course, Stephens was announced the winner on the day. Canadian Carol-Ann Canuel racing for the Canadian national team set the second fastest time with Neben rounding out the podium.

The North American professional women’s peloton gathered in Gatineau, Que. for the eighth annual Chrono Gatineau on Friday and the Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau road race which goes off at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon.

Last year, Kimberley Wells of Colavita-Bianchi won the seventh edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste Gatineau. The Australian rider edged out Joëlle Numainville racing for Team Quebec and Leah Kirchmann of Team Canada in a long sprint from a reduced group of about 40 riders.
