Festivities wrap up at the 2017 Sea Otter Classic

Over 70,000 cycling enthusiasts attended the 27th edition at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California

The 2017 edition of Sea Otter attracted over 70,000 people over for days according to organizers. As one of the world’s biggest cycling festivals, racers of all disciplines competed at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. Be it downhill, road race or the season’s earliest or latest, depending on how you see it, cyclocross race. The festival is also the perfect time for companies to show off the newest and coolest tech with crowds of people milling through the venue.

The Bell pooch

Few dogs had the patience to hang around companies booths but this pooch was there to greet curious passersby at Bell. On a quiet morning, while foot traffic was low and the temperature wasn’t too hot she came out to enjoy the sunshine.

Rotor

Rotor had the hydraulic Uno groupset on display but its newer offerings were direct mount Q-Rings and new mountain cranks for enduro and downhill riders. Apart from the colourful guards, the Raptor crank has an interchangeable spindle to accommodate boost or whatever the next standard is to offer riders more compatibility.

Little Bells

The Little Bells youth cycling group were doing rides and workshops over the weekend.

Airless tires

Sick of needing to change tubes when you flat on a ride. Tannus believe airless tires are the future and had many colourful options to choose from.

Bike Art

If you need inspiration for something to do with all your old bike parts there were a few companies on hand that were using recycled bike parts and being creative with them.

Team Clif Bar

After the racing, Team Clif Bar came by to talk Garneau kits at the Quebec-based companies booth and have a beer. To say the team’s spirits were high may be a bit of an understatement. They were clearly making the most of their time at Sea Otter.
