Matteo Dal-Cin signs with Rally Cycling

Redlands Classic winner joins four other Canadians on American Continental squad

Rally Cycling announced on Wednesday that Canadian Matteo Dal-Cin, winner of the 2016’s Redlands Classic, has signed on with the American Continental outfit for 2017.

Back in September Canadian Cycling Magazine wrote about Ben Perry, Dal-Cin and Alex Cataford moving on from the successful Canadian Continental Silber squad. Cataford joined UnitedHealthcare, while Perry went to Israeli outfit Cycling Academy Team.

Dal-Cin joins compatriots Rob Britton, Adam de Vos, Pierrick Naud and Will Routley on the team known for four years as Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies. Rally’s Evan Huffman (USA) took the victory in the Tour of Alberta’s third stage to take the leader’s jersey for a day on his way to third overall.

Dal-Cin’s 2016 also included some high finishes in stages of the Tour of the Gila and the GP de Saguenay, the latter of which he won in 2014.

In a press release Dal-Cin outlined his 2017 goals: “I want to be in good form early in the season to take advantage of the team’s trip to Europe. I would like to make the rosters for the major US events and see what I can do at the pinnacle of the North American calendar. I’m also excited to return home to Nationals, which for a second year will be in my hometown of Ottawa. After a disappointing finish in the road race this year I’d like to ride well there in front of family and friends.”

Rally’s Performance Manager Jonas Carney said, “Matteo Dal-Cin has been on our radar for a couple of seasons now, but he really stepped up his game in 2016. His overall win at the Redlands Bicycle Classic showed that he is a really well-rounded general classification contender, and also a scrappy rider. Our team likes to race aggressively and Matteo will give us one more option when the races get hard.”
