MEC Route 35 winter jersey reviewed

The MEC Route 35 winter jersey will do a nice job keeping you warm this fall. Whether it’s buried under layers of clothing or your top layer, the polyester stretch fabric with a brushed fleece inner is quite cozy. The jersey doesn’t block the wind but when worn under a light jacket it certainly provides very nice isolation.

The jersey doesn’t have an aggressive cut meaning that it’s quite nice to wear leisurely and is very comfortable. We also quite liked the blue suede colour which made it a stylish piece to commute and then hang out in. The jersey does have three rear pockets and a additonal zip pocket which means that it’s also a functional piece for chilly days. When it was sunny out but below 10 C, it was a comfortable piece to pull out without an overlayer. With a well-insulated jacket on top, this piece of apparel will serve you well deep into the winter.

The jersey is not for riding in inclement weather. It is not very effective at blocking the wind and it doesn’t provide protection from the rain. This is not to say in these conditions it’s not valuable to have on though. If you have the habit of tucking a rain coat in your rear pocket this jerseuy will keep you nice and cozy underneath. It’s really designed for cool weather riding or as a piece to go underneath an outer layer to keep your arms and core warm. The jersey also provides exceptional value.
