While walking around the Canadian cyclocross championships venue in Peterborough over the weekend, the Canadian Cycling Magazine crew was constantly stopping to admire the unique and drool-worthy race bikes hanging around team tents and race cars.

Sure, there was all the pro bikes, like Geoff Kabush’s Open U.P. But there were also plenty of eye-catching bikes racing all day, throughout the categories.

This week we’ll be featuring some of the bikes you might have missed, starting with junior racer Damien Vialaret’s Van Dessel Full Tilt Boogie

Vialaret races for the Van Dessel p/b Hyperthreads team and, while too young for the elite race, is not exactly slow. Racing in the stacked junior men’s field, Vialaret finished seventh in Saturday’s championship event. He followed up on Sunday with an 11th in Lift Lock Cross UCI C2 event.

Joining Vialaret in the junior men’s race was Hugo Brisebois, racing up an age group to finish a consistent 17th both days against the older riders. Both took on the muddy, snowy and very slippery Peterborough course aboard the Van Dessel Full Tilt Boogie.

Van Dessel has been around the cyclocrss scene for a while now. Long enough to lay claim to one of the best frame names going: Full Tilt Boogie. The Van Dessel cross frame will work with through axle or QR axles, so that closet full of carbon tubular wheels you have stored away can still be put to good use. Vialaret’s bike was all set for the Peterborough course, with mud-worthy tubs and an oval chainring for smooth power on muddy off-cabers and hills.
