Maghalie Rochette opens CX Fever Fund applications
Canadian cyclocross champion is accepting applications from junior and under-23 cyclocross riders
Canada’s Pan American cyclocross champion Maghalie Rochette is looking to spread the CX Fever.
Rochette announced applications are now open for the 2018 CX Fever Fund, to help share the passion for cyclocross. The goal of the fund is to support up-and-coming racers by helping them have the financial backing to further engage in cyclocross.
“This year, I feel like the Fever is stronger than ever in Canada. I’ve never seen that much enthusiasm for our sport here, and that makes me really happy,” says Rochette. “I hope we can keep spreading the Fever even more.”
The CX Fever Fund originally launched in 2017, when Rochette was with the Clif Pro Team. Having moved over to the CXFever p/b/ Specialzed program, the Canadian cyclocross champion wanted to keep the program going.
“With the change of team and the creation of the CXFever p/b Specialized program, and because we were going to be away in Europe for a big part of the season, David and I didn’t have the time or resources to do the same type of project as we did last year. But we still wanted to keep the Fund alive and do our part to help young racers in Canada”
This year, the fund will offer two 500$ grants to young cyclocross riders from Canada. To apply to the Fund, you must be a junior or under-23 rider and need to have participated in the 2018 Canadian cyclocross championship in the junior or under-23 category.
The two recipients will be chosen based on a short application video. Rochette wants to know why you have the Fever and what is your ambition in cyclocross.
