160 new 2019 bikes stolen from Rocky Mountain warehouse
Brazen overnight theft in Vancouver empties shipping container
Bike theft always sucks, but having 160 brand new bikes stolen in one night?
A container full of 2019 model Rocky Mountain bicycles was broken into and emptied during the night of Monday 24 September. According to the company’s press release, the container was on the grounds of its BC warehouse in Greater Vancouver.
The bikes include 2019 Altitude, Altitude Alloy, Instinct, Pipeline, Slayers, Altitude Powerplay e-bikes, Thunderbolt AL and Reaper 24″ kids bikes. The bikes were set to be received, then distributed to Rocky Mountain’s network of Canadian dealers.
“We are very disappointed with this situation, and the impact that it has on our IBD network,” said Raymond Dutil, CEO of Rocky Mountain. “We have dealers across Canada that were expecting to receive their order from us in the coming weeks.”
An investigation has been started with the Vancouver Police Department. Rocky Mountain is asking any dealers or individuals that come across the bikes in the serial number range, or with serial numbers removed, to contact them at info@bikes.com
