Bigger and better for 2019: Norco Canadian Enduro Series launches race calendar

Canadian national championships, EWS qualifiers, and Sea Otter Canada all part of national race series

After establishing quick popularity in B.C., Enduro is growing fast across Canada. The Norco Canadian Enduro Series p/b LTP Sorts is building, and building off of that success for its 2019 race calendar.

With a new Canadian enduro championship event, a Sea Otter Canada race and more, it’s looking like an exciting year for enduro across Canada.

With stops in four provinces between May and July, the 2019 Norco Canadian Enduro Series (NCES) continues grow as a national race series. With the Enduro World Series expanding its roster of official EWS Qualifier events, several NCES weekends will now be part of the process of qualifying to race in the EWS.

For 2019, the Norco Candian Enduro Championships will now be a Cycling Canada / UCI sanctioned event. The first NCEC event was held in Panorama Mountain Resort, B.C. in 2018 but, with the UCI and EWS partnering going forward, 2019 will be a fully UCI sanctioned event. The NCEC returns to Panorama again this coming year, joining Canadian downhill national championships for a weekend of gravity racing.

Sea Otter festival launching a new Sea Otter Canada event for 2019. Part of that will be the NCES’s Blue Mountain, Ont. race weekend. With the enduro race and cycling festival sharing a weekend, expect big crowds on course for the series’ only Ontario stop in 2019.

Starting at on the West Coast, Vedder Mountain in the Fraser Valley hosts the opening round on 12 May. As it has the last two years, this event shares a weekend with the Vedder Mountain Classic XCM. NCES then moves to a long-serving race venue, Kamloops, B.C. on 2 June before continuing east to the big mountains of Revelstoke, B.C. on 16 June.

The NCES then jumps across the country to Blue Mountain, Ont. for the Sea Otter weekend on 7 July, before moving further east to Camp Fortune, Que. on 14 July. The 21 July weekend see’s a split in the series, with Crowsnest Pass, Alta and Bromont, Que. both hosting events. Racing returns to B.C. for the Norco Canadian Enduro Championships on 27 July and Panorama Mountain Resort, B.C.

Other developments for 2019 include a new fly-by timing system in partnership with Zone 4 timing, including live stage results. Ensuring your head is as safe as possible, there are new helmet rules for the coming year. Full face helmets are now mandatory for all riders at all NCES events.
