Whistler is set to host the 15th annual Crankworx festival, a celebration of gravity racing of all types. From the world famous Joyride Slopestyle competition to multiple downhill races and a stop on the Enduro World Series, the Whistler Bikepark is the place to be for mountain biking all week.

King and Queen of Crankworx

The final stop on the Crankworx World Tour, Whistler is the deciding round in several year-long competitions. The King and Queen of Crankworks, awarded to riders who excel across disciplines at each of the tours four stops, will be crowned after a full week of events. Canadian former Crankworx Queen Casey Brown is in the running to reclaim her crown form Jill Kintner. Sam Blenkinsop leads the men ahead of France’s Tomas Lemoine. The two have taken very different paths to the finals, so it will be a battle of points between the downhiller and the slopestyle rider. There’s not just a crown on the line, the King and Queen each take home a $20, 000 prize.

Triple Crown of Slopestyle & Red Bull Joyride Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championships

Red Bull Joyride is one of the most famous events in all of mountain biking. The massive slopestyle competition draws out the best competitors from around the world to lay down wild slopestyle runs in front of a massive crowd of spectators.

Winning Red Bull Joyride is itself a career defining honour, but it’s not the only title on the line. Joyride is the final round in Crankworx World Tour Slopestyle and, new for 2019, the combined Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championships.

If that didn’t make the stakes high enough, the Triple Crown of Slopestyle is also in contention in 2019. The $25, 000 prize goes to any rider who can win three Crankworx Slopestyle competitions in one year. Brett Rheeder was the last rider to come close, back in 2015. This year, the Canadian is the rider with possibly the best chance of stopping Nicholi Rogatkin from becoming the first ever rider to claim the prize. Rogatkin has won two rounds, and Rheeder one. The absence of five time Joyride champion, Brandon Semenuk, also makes Rheeder the best bet for keeping the crown in Canada for another year.
