Sunday’s world championships at Mont-Sainte-Anne were one for the history books.

The burly Quebec venue always delivers exciting racing, but combined with the winner-takes-all format of world championships, huge crowds, and fiercely contested podiums, the 2019 edition of MSA was the most dramatic race of the year.

While Finn Iles, Vaea Verbeeck and Mark Wallace brought a roaring crowd to its feel with top-10 performances, it was two French riders that performed under the pressure of world championships.

Loic Bruni claimed his third consecutive rainbow jersey in the elite men’s race, adding another laurel to his incredible season. On the other end, Myriam Nicole returned to racing for Mont-Sainte-Anne after missing much of the season with an injured foot. The French woman didn’t let the lack of race time slow her down, earning the elite women’s title.
