From N.S. to the Yukon: wide-ranging 2023 Canadian mountain bike nationals schedule

Hot off of a huge weekend of Canadian national championship racing, where Hardwood Ski and Bike crowned XCO winners in Ontario and Dunbar Summer Series minted a new crop of downhill champs in B.C., Cycling Canada is announcing a wide-ranging roster of host venues for the 2023 season.

Canadian mountain bike national championships will span from coast to coast and even venture up north into the territories. Balancing that out, BMX champs will stay more central, splitting between Ontario and Quebec. The prairies get in on the action, too, with road events in Alberta making 2023 a very geographically diverse championships season.

Cross country and XC Marathon

Canadian cross country national championships are headed to Kentville, Nova Scotia. After hosting several Canada Cup rounds, Kentville will host XCO and XCC championships for the first time. Racing takes place from July 22-23, 2023.

Canadian XC marathon championships are also headed to more remote trails. The final championship event of 2023 will see riders heading north to the storied trails of Whitehorse, Yukon. That event takes place from September 15-17.

Downhill sets sights on Fernie

After two years at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, maple leaf sleeves will be earned in Fernie in 2023. A classic Canada Cup and Dunbar Summer Series venue, the steeps and deep dust of Fernie Alpine Resort step up to championships status next season. Last weekend brought over 350 racers out to the slopes of KHMR, and SE Racing is back as organizer again for ’23. Expect big crowds and exciting racing again next season when racing starts on June 15.
